Il Perù (in spagnolo: Perú, in quechua: Piruw, in aymara: Piruw) è uno Stato dell'America meridionale. Confina a nord con Ecuador e Colombia, a est con il Brasile, a sud-est con la Bolivia, a sud con il Cile, e ad ovest con l'Oceano Pacifico. Il territorio peruviano è stata sede di antiche culture, che vanno dalla civiltà Norte Chico, uno delle più antiche del mondo, all'Impero Inca, lo Stato più grande dell'America precolombiana. L'Impero spagnolo conquistò la regione nel XVI secolo e vi stabilì un Vicereame, che comprendeva la maggior parte delle colonie sudamericane. Raggiunse l'indipendenza nel 1821, e la fine definitiva del dominio spagnolo sulla regione fu siglata nella battaglia di Ayacucho di tre anni dopo.

Peru is an extremely biodiverse country with habitats ranging from the arid plains of the Pacific coastal region in the west to the peaks of the Andes mountains vertically extending from the north to the southeast of the country to the tropical Amazon Basin rainforest in the east with the Amazon river.
